Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE)

ACE seeks to develop a corps of highly motivated and committed young educators to meet the needs of our country's most underserved elementary and secondary schools.   Established in 1994 by Fr. Timothy R. Scully, C.S.C., and Sean D. McGraw, C.S.C., ACE currently has over 140 recent graduates from the University of Notre Dame and Saint Mary's College as well as a number of other select colleges and universities.  These graduates teach in over 90 parochial schools throughout the urban and rural southern United States.

ACE recruits talented graduates from a broad variety of undergraduate disciplines, representing a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, and provides an intensive two-year service experience encompassing professional development, community life, and spiritual growth.

Participants receive a modest living stipend, totaling roughly $10,000 per year.   This means that ACE teachers are paid approximately $800 per month, adjusted for the cost of living.  From that amount, members typically contribute about $300 each month to cover community rent, utilities, transportation, internet, and food expenses.   ACE members receive two $150 travel stipends each year.  ACE also pays travel expenses from the annual December retreat.
