Using Wildcards

Internal truncation--using a symbol to replace a letter within a word--is referred to as using a wildcard.
This can be helpful if a word has an irregular plural, or can be spelled different ways.

The question mark ? is the most common wildcard used in databases and e-journal collections.

Check the HELP feature of each database or e-journal collection, to see if wildcards can be used.
