POSITION: Senior Digital & Print Production Specialist
GRADE: 30
DEPARTMENT: User Services-Print Shop
POSITION REPORTS TO: Print Shop Supervisor
JOB FUNCTION: Operates all digital printers/copiers/scanners and ancillary print shop equipment consisting of all book binding machines, collating machine, gluing and padding set, folding machines, drill press, hydraulic paper cutter, tape binding machine, and other equipment required for Print Shop operation. Coordinates submitted print jobs from all college departments. Works closely with the Manager of Print Shop and Managing Director of User Services towards future development and expansion of the print shop.
1.
Processes requests for print shop services submitted by all departments
in a timely and efficient manner.
2.
Prepares all digital print jobs for the press using Adobe Creative
Suite, Acrobat, or other industry standard software.
3. Troubleshoots digital files
and fixes or assists in repair of digital files.
4. Records all job information
for billing and record keeping purposes.
5.
Maintains print shop and copy center
equipment.
6. Maintains production
equipment and repairs as necessary.
7. Preparation of layouts when
headlines and compositions are submitted.
8.
Pads, collates, staples and binds, requested printed material.
9.
Scans and edit images and assists customers with typography, graphics
and layout, using latest versions of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
10. Administers mail-merging and other variable
data processing for college mailing.
11. Delivers finished goods to
customers across campus.
12. Administers mailing address
databases and process bulk mail.
13. Assumes responsibility of
the print shop in the absence of the manager.
1. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job requires color determination vision (no color blindness). Knowledge of computer systems. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Xerox digital printing presses, Fiery print server, Satori software for bulk mailing and Fusion Pro for variable data merging, or other similar industry standard technologies. Ability to read and write. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent job experience in mass communications, and/ or design is preferred. Previous experience is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Standing in an upright position for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area. Walking, carrying, lifting, pulling and/or pushing objects from 50 to 75 lbs. on a regular basis and reaching.
