America: History and Life is a "complete bibliographic reference to the history of the United States and Canada from prehistory to the present." This database offers approximately "450,000 bibliographic entries that cover over 2,000 journals published worldwide."
ATLA Religion Database, compiled by the American Theological Library Association, “includes more than 350,000 article citations from 600 journals, more than 200,000essay citations from 15,500 multi-author works, and over 360,000 book review citations.” Topics include “biblical studies, world religions, church history, and religion in social issues. An essential resource for researchers and students in theology as well as in social sciences, history and humanities, most coverage in this database spans from 1949 to the present.”
Books in Print provides a complete source of information on books from virtually all publishers located in the United States. These records feature books that are currently in print or are to be printed within the next six months.
Britannica Online includes the complete encyclopedia, plus Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, the Britannica Year in Review, and thousands of links to World Wide Web sites selected by Britannica editors. Continuously updated, the entries include articles, definitions, drawings, photographs, maps, and biographies.
Business Full Text is a Wilsonweb database that indexes and abstracts articles from “leading business magazines and trade and research journals, and the full text of selected periodicals. Full text coverage begins in 1995.”
Business Source Elite is one of the databases in the EBSCOhost collection. This resource provides “full text coverage for 1,100 scholarly business, management and economics journals, including nearly 450 peer-reviewed publications. In addition to the full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for over 1,600 journals. This database includes full text (PDF) coverage dating back as far as 1985, and detailed company profiles for the world's 5,000 largest companies.”
Catholic Periodical and Literature Index is a database that indexes over 190 Roman Catholic periodicals, papal documents, church promulgations, and books concerning the Catholic Church. The index covers the years 1981 to the present. Accessible to King's College students, faculty, and staff on CD-ROM located in the Reference Department of the library.
CCH DATABASE fully "tracks, reports, explains and analyzes" federal and state tax laws. The resource also includes comprehensive information concerning financial and estate planning.
CINAHL, the "database equivalent to the Cumulated Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature print index,” provides access to virtually all English-language nursing journals, publications from the American Nurses' Association and the National League for Nursing, and journals from 17 allied health disciplines. The database also covers consumer health, health sciences librarianship, chiropractic, and health services administration literature.”
Criminal Justice Periodical Index provides abstracting, indexing and full text to190 titles that feature “information on virtually any criminal justice topic, including corrections administration, law enforcement, social work, industrial security, drug rehabilitation, and criminal and family law.” Coverage includes 1981 to the present.
Education Full Text is a Wilsonweb database that “indexes and abstracts articles from English-language periodicals and yearbooks. Abstracting coverage begins with January 1994. Full-text coverage begins in January 1996.” Subjects include adult education, athletics, elementary education, higher education, preschool, secondary education, and teaching, among others.
ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center, is one of the EBSCOhost databases and is produced under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Education. This resource “provides full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1000 educational and education-related journals.”
General Science Full Text is a Wilsonweb database that “that indexes and abstracts articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals published in the United States and Great Britain plus the full text of selected periodicals. Periodical coverage includes popular science magazines as well as professional journals. General Science Full Text also covers The New York Times Science Section (published weekly on Tuesday). Abstracting coverage begins with periodicals published in March 1993. Full text coverage begins in January 1995.”
Historical Abstracts is a "complete reference guide to the history of the world from 1450 to the present (excluding the United States and Canada)." The database features abstracts to articles published in over 2,000 journals worldwide.
Humanities Full Text is a Wilsonweb database that “cites articles from English-language periodicals, plus the full text of selected periodicals. Periodical coverage includes some of the best-known scholarly journals and numerous lesser-known but important specialized magazines. Full-text coverage begins in January 1995.”
Ingenta (formerly known as Carl UnCover) is an “online periodical index database and document delivery service” that “offers access via the Internet to over 18,000 articles in the humanities, social sciences, science, and technology.”
Lexis- Nexis Academic Universe is an online database of over 5,900 titles that covers general news, business, and finance, health and medicine, law, politics, government,and biographical information. Included are full text national and international newspapers, journals, magazines, directories, SEC filings and other corporate information, legal sources such as federal and state case laws and regulations, medical and health information, industry and market news, and country and state profiles.
Masterfile Premier is an EBSCOhost database that “provides full text for nearly 1,950 general periodicals covering a broad range of disciplines including general reference, business, education, health, general science, multi-cultural issues. This database also provides indexing and abstracts for 2,540 publications in the collection and PDF backfiles as far back as 1975.”
MLA Directory of Periodicals, a product of the Modern Language Association of America, “lists over 3,700 periodicals in the areas of literature, language, linguistics, and folklore that are covered regularly in the MLA International Bibliography.”
Oxford Reference Online “contains about 100 dictionary, language reference, and subject reference works published by Oxford University Press. It is a fully indexed, cross-searchable database of these books, giving subscribers unprecedented access toa comprehensive information resource.
Philosopher's Index “provides indexing and abstracts from books and journals of philosophy and related fields. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy, political philosophy, epistemology, and metaphysic logic as well as material on the philosophy of law, religion, science, history, education, and language.
PsvclNFO “contains citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, and technical reports, as well as citations to dissertations, all in the field of psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines, such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, and law. Journal coverage, spanning 1887-present, includes international material selected from more than 1,300 periodicals written in over 25 languages. Current chapter and book coverage includes worldwide English-language material published from 1987-present.”
Medline/PubMed provides “access to over 11 million MEDLINE citations indexing major medical, biological, and other life sciences journals back to the mid-1960's. Also included are links to many sites providing full text articles and other related resources.
