The judge in the middle concludes,
"In punishment thereof this court sentences you to death."
They return you to your cell.
That night, a priest comes to your cell. He offers to hear your last confession.
*accept gratefully. You tell him that you are innocent and that you only confessed to these crimes so that the pain of torture would stop. You beg the priest to help those innocent people whom you have implicated under torture. The priest absolves you of your sins and offers his consolation. He tells you of Godís love and mercy. There is nothing more he can do. He leaves. You spend the night in prayer to the blessed Virgin.
*accept cautiously. The confessor asks you about the crimes of witchcraft. You are suspicious at first, fearing some sort of trick that might lead to new torture. But you soon trust the confessor, and tell him all you can about your travails. The priest absolves you of your sins and offers to pray for you. You spend the night in prayer to the blessed Virgin.
*accept sorrowfully. You tell him that you have been a terrible witch and have done grave wrongs against God and humankind. The priest blesses you as a Child of Eternal Life who goes so with such penitence into death. He absolves you of your sins. You spend the night in prayer to the blessed Virgin.
