Women's Studies involves more than enumerating the accomplishments of women who have met traditional criteria for inclusion in history. Women's Studies also seeks out women who have presented alternate ways of understanding the world. It challenges students to question the framework of our cultural heritage. The environment of recognition and discovery often created by a Women's Studies Program encourages focus on other perspectives of inquiry such as class, ethnicity, and race. In so doing, Women's Studies at King's College presents a broader spectrum of knowledge and more encompassing ways of teaching and learning to those who accept the challenge. |
