KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS LYCO IN FREEDOM CONFERENCE

WILLIAMSPORT-- The King's College softball team won its seventh
straight game as the Lady Monarchs posted a doubleheader sweep of host
Lycoming College Wednesday in Williamsport.
The pair of victories enabled King's to improved to 18-6 overall and 5-1
in Freedom Conference play. Lycoming fell to 1-7 overall and 1-7
in the MAC.
In the opener, King's smacked three home runs en route to a five-inning
victory. Starting pitcher Lindsey Hoerner helped her own cause by
belting a first-inning grand-slam home run while going 2-for-3 in the
contest. Sue Roccia belted a solo home run in the third inning while
Becky Loring was 2-for-3, including a solo home run in the fifth inning.
Justine Maggio and Mari Valonis added two hits each to aide the Lady
Monarch attack. Hoerner, meanwhile, scattered six hits and struck
out five batters in five innings of work.
In the nightcap, Amanda Rizner picked up the pitching win, allowing
seven hits and three earned runs while striking out three batters in
seven complete innings.
Leanne Harvey was 3-for-4 with two RBI while Abbey Knoblauch went
3-for-4 with an RBI. Valonis was 2-for-4 with two RBI while Loring
was also 2-for-4.
