KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS WESLEY
DOVER, DE -- The King's College softball team pushed across 28 runs
as the Lady Monarchs posted a doubleheader sweep of host Wesley College
Tuesday in Dover, De.
The Lady Monarchs won the first game 14-6 before capturing the nightcap
14-2. Both games were halted after five innings. With the sweep, King's
improved to 9-5 on the year.
In the opener, King's used a 10-run second inning to put the game away
early. Kelsey Shreaves picked up the pitching victory allowing six runs,
three that were earned, while striking out six batters and yielding nine
hits. She also aided her own cause at the plate by going
3-for-4 with a two-run double.
Becky Loring was 2-for-3 with a two-run triple in the second inning.
Justine Maggio also added a three-run triple in the second. Abbey
Knoblauch was 2-for-4 with a triple while Annie Drimones was also
2-for-4 with an RBI. Christie Parfitt chipped in by going 2-for-2 with
an RBI.
In the nightcap, Lindsey Hoerner earned the pitching victory, allowing just
three hits while striking out seven batters. At the plate she was
2-for-3 with a three-run home run in the first inning. Loring went
3-for-4 with a double and triple. Leanne Harvey and Becky Fry each added
a two-run doubles while Knoblauch and Julie Bidwell contributed with RBI
singles.
