KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS ON FINAL DAY OF SALISBURY
TOURNEY
SALISBURY, MD -- Julie Bidwell hit a game-winning two-run home run in
the sixth inning to lead the King's College softball team to a 3-1
victory over host Salisbury University to salvage a split on the final
day of the Seagull Invitational Tournament Saturday in Salisbury, Md.
King's, which dropped a 4-3 decision to Christopher Newport in its first
game of the day, went 4-4 in the two-day event and stands at 7-5 on the
year.
With the game tied 1-1 in the sixth inning, Kelsey Shreaves would
single. Two batters later Bidwell would belt the decisive home run over
the right field fence to push across what would prove to be the
game-winning runs.
Amanda Rizner picked up the complete-game victory for King's, allowing
just five hits in seven innings of work. Bidwell finished the game
by going 2-for-3 with three RBI while Shreaves finished the game with a
2-for-3 effort.
In the opener, Mari Valonis led King's by going 2-for-4 with an RBI
double. Shreaves was 1-for-3, including a solo home run. She also took
the pitching loss, allowing all four runs, three that were earned, on 11
hits.
