KING'S SOFTBALL CAPTURES DEUCE OVER ROCHESTER
COCOA BEACH, FLA -- The King's College softball team secured a
doubleheader sweep over Rochester College of Michigan Tuesday in Cocoa
Beach, Fla.
King's won the first game 16-0 before taking the second contest 14-0.
In the opener, freshman Lindsey Hoerner picked up the pitching victory,
allowing two hits with five strikeouts in five innings. Justine
Maggio was 4-for-4 with five RBI and two doubles. Christie Parfitt went
2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Leanne Harvey was 2-for-3 with an RBI
while Hoerner aided her own cause by going 1-for-3 with a double and two
RBI. Annie Drimones was 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In the second game, Kelsey Shreaves picked up the win in relief of
starter Amanda Rizner. Sheaves tossed four innings and struck out
six batters while allowing one hit. Rizner tossed the first three
innings and allowed one hit with three strikeouts.
Mari Valonis went 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI while Caitlyn
McAndrew was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Harvey went
3-for-5 with a double and two RBI while Shreaves was 2-for-3 with an
RBI. Meaghan Galvin was 2-for-5 with a double while Julie Bidwell was
2-for-4. Becky Loring chipped in with a single and two RBI.
King's will now be idle until Friday when the Lady Monarchs play in the
two-day Salisbury Invitational at Salisbury University.
