LADY MONARCHS SPLIT ON SECOND DAY OF SALISBURY TOURNEY

SALISBURY, MD -- The King's softball team went 1-1 for the second straight day to finish with a 2-2 mark at the Salisbury Invitational Tournament Saturday in Salisbury, Md.

In its first game of the day, King's posted an 8-4 win over Virginia Wesleyan, then followed by an 8-3 loss to York in its tourney finale.

In the opener, Nikki Kotula was 4-for-4 with a triple, an RBI, and scored two runs. Leanne Harvey was also 4-for-4 with an RBI double and scored two runs. Freshman Abbey Knoblauch went 3-for-5 with three RBI.

Nikki Kotula picked up the win, allowing four runs on four hits in four innings of work.  Amanda Rizner picked up the save with three innings of scoreless relief pitching.

Against York, King's managed just six hits, led by Kelsey Shreaves with a 2-for-2 showing. Kate Shiffer added a solo home run in the fourth.

Colleen Spadora took the pitching loss, allowing eight runs, three which were earned, on six innings as King's committed four errors.
