LADY MONARCHS SWEEP PITT-GREENSBURG TO
IMPROVE TO 3-1
FT, PIERCE, FL -- The King's College
softball team improved to 3-1 on the year with a double-header sweep of
Pitt-Greensburg Monday in Ft. Pierce, Fl.
King's won both games by respective scores of 7-3.
In the opener, freshman hurler Kelsey Shreaves picked up the
complete-game victory, allowing three runs with two strikeouts in seven
innings of work. Cassy Shiffer was 3-for-4 at the plate while
Justine Maggio went 2-for-3. Mari Valonis added a two-run home run while
Ashley Sullivan was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Shreaves aided her own cause at
the plate with a two-run double.
In the second game, Amanda Rizner also tossed a complete-game victory,
allowing three runs on seven hits. Knoblauch was 2-for-4 with a double,
triple, and two RBI, while Annie Drimones was 2-for-3. Valonis had a
double and RBI while Caitlyn McAndrew and Sue Roccia each added RBI
singles.
King's will face Northwestern College of Minnesota on Tuesday.
