BRADY NAMED TO ESPN THE MAGAZINE DISTRICT 2 ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
TEAM
WILKES-BARRE -- King's College softball standout Kristin Brady
(Mayfield/Bishop O'Hara) has been named to the 2005 ESPN The
Magazine District II Academic All-American Team, as selected by the
College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) of America.
Brady, who selected as a catcher, was named to the District II team,
which includes NCAA Division II and III, as well as NAIA colleges and
universities from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, West
Virginia, and the District of Columbia. To be nominated,
student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.20 overall grade-point
average and be at least a sophomore in class standing.
Brady is one of 12 players named to the first team who will now be
placed on the national ballot along with first-team selection from the
other seven districts around the nation.
Academically, Brady owns a 3.84 GPA as a criminal justice major. She is
a three-time Middle Atlantic Conference all-Academic choice and was
named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Scholar All-American
team in 2003 and 2004.
On the field, Brady helped lead King’s to a 31-10 record and its sixth
consecutive Freedom Conference title and a sixth straight NCAA Division
III national tournament berth.
Brady bats .344 (45-131) with three home runs, eight doubles, and 33 RBI
while posting a .504 slugging percentage. She is also an outstanding
defensive catcher who has yet to commit and error in 241 chances this
season.
She is a three-time all-Freedom Conference choice was also a first-team
NFCA East Regional All-American in 2004.
The ESPN The Magazine national team will be announced June 2, 2005.
