KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH LEB-VALLEY

ANNVILLE -- The King's College softball team prepped for the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament with a doubleheader split with Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference pairing Tuesday in Annville.

Lebanon Valley won the first game 3-2 before King's took the nightcap 7-6 in eight innings.  With the split, King's ended the regular-season with a 28-10 record while Lebanon Valley stands at 26-10.

In the opener, King's led 2-1 before the Flying Dutchmen scored two runs in their final at-bat to pull out the victory. Stacey Preambo and Justine Maggio were both 2-for-3 for King's while Kate Shiffer and Ashley Sullivan added base hits.  Sarah Genewski took the pitching loss, allowing three runs, two which were earned, on seven hits while striking out three batters.

In the nightcap, King's held a 5-0 lead before Lebanon Valley scored five runs in the sixth to send the game into extra innings.  The Lady Monarchs score two run sin the eighth on a sacrifice fly from Mari Valonis and an RBI double from Leanne Harvey. Lebanon Valley would add an unearned run in the bottom of the inning as King's held on for the victory.

Kelley Vaxmonsky was 3-for-4 with two triples while Harvey was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Preambo was 2-for-4 while Kristin Brady went 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Genewski picked up the win in relief of starter Megan Adams who tossed four shutout innings before giving way to Nicole Conger, who yielded five runs in an inning, before Genewski closed out the game.

King's will next compete in the Freedom Conference Tournament Friday and Saturday at Wilkes. Second-seeded King's will face third-seeded Wilkes Friday at 1:00 p.m.
