KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS DEL-VALLEY
DOYLESTOWN -- Senior catcher Kristin Brady went
5-for-7 with a home run and two doubles over the course of two games as
the King's College softball team posted a doubleheader sweep of host
Delaware Valley College Thursday in Doylestown.
King's won the first game 14-0 in five innings,
before taking the nightcap 6-2. In the process, the Lady Monarchs improved
to 25-7 overall and 8-2 in Freedom Conference play.
In the opener, senior pitcher Sarah Genewski picked up the shutout win,
allowing just three hits while striking out two batters. Mari Valonis was
4-for-4 with a two-run double while Stacey Preambo went 3-for-3 with two
doubles and three RBI. Brady was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI while
Nikki Kotula went 2-for-3 with a two-run double. Ashley Sullivan chipped
in with a 2-for-2 showing, including a double.
In the nightcap, Kotula pitched a complete-game four-hitter while striking
out five batters. Brady was 3-for-4 with a home run and double while
Kelley Vaxmonsky went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Leanne Harvey
was 2-for-4 while Valonis added an RBI single.
King's is next slated to host DeSales University in an important Freedom
Conference doubleheader Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields.
