KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS CABRINI FOR 15TH STRAIGHT WIN

RADNOR -- The King's College softball team extended its winning streak to 15 straight games as the Lady Monarchs posted a doubleheader sweep of host Cabrini College Wednesday in Radnor.

King's, which won the opener 8-0 in six innings and 11-3 in the nightcap, improved their record to 22-4.

In the opener, Kelley Vaxmonsky was 3-for-4 with an RBI while Nikki Kotula was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Mari Valonis went 2-for-2, including a fourth inning solo home, her eighth of the year. Cassy Shiffer also added a solo home run in the third inning. Leanne Harvey chipped in with an RBI single.  Sarah Genewski picked up the shutout victory, scattering six hits while striking out four batters.

In the second game, Stacey Preambo was 4-for-5 with four RBI, including a solo home run and a double. Vaxmonsky was 3-for-5 with three RBI while Valonis was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Harvey was 2-for-4 with a double while Justine Maggio went 2-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.  Kotula picked up the complete-game pitching win, allowing four hits and striking out nine batters.

King's will next travel to Williamsport on Saturday to face Lycoming College in a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
