KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS FIRST TWO GAMES AT SALISBURY TOURNEY
SALISBURY, MD -- The King's College
softball team split its first two games on the opening day of the
Salisbury University Invitational in Maryland.
King's posted a 7-6 win over Cabrini in the opener, then fell to
Salisbury 5-3.
Against Cabrini, the Lady Monarchs rallied from a late 6-1 deficit to
pull out the win in its last at-bat. Cassy Shiffer, who was 2-for-4 on
the day, posted a game-winning two-run double to push across the winning
runs. Kristin Brady added a double and two runs while Stacey Preambo
posted an RBI double. Nikki Kotula added an RBI single for King's.
Sarah Genewski picked up the pitching victory, allowing three earned
runs while posting out two strikeouts.
Against Salisbury, a 2004 NCAA College World Series qualifier, Kotula
took the pitching loss, allowing seven hits and four runs, while
striking out six batters. She was also 1-for-3 at the plate. Kate
Shiffer added a solo home run for the Lady Monarchs while Cassy Shiffer
chipped in with an RBI single.
