KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS DAVIS & ELKINS

The King's College softball team improved to 5-1 on the year with a
double-header sweep of Davis & Elkins College Tuesday in Ft. Pierce,
Fla.
The Lady Monarchs won by identical scores 11-3 and 11-3. Both games were
halted after five innings.
In the first game, Mari Valonis led the way with a 2-for-3 showing with
four RBI, including a three-run home run. Stacey Preambo was 1-for-1 with
2 RBI; Kristin Brady and Annie Drimones were both 2-for-2, while Kelley
Vaxmonsky was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Megan Adams picked up the
pitching win, allowing one earned run and one hit with two strikeouts.
Sarah Genewski pitched the final two innings and allowed two unearned
runs.
In the second contest, Valonis again came up big with a 3-for-3 effort
with five RBI, including a grand slam home run and a double. Cassy Shiffer
was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Vaxmonsky went 2-for-4 with a home run and
three RBI. Ashley Sullivan was 1-for-1 with an RBI. Nicole Conger
picked up the pitching victory allowing three hits and one earned run.
Nikki Kotula pitched two scoreless innings of relief.
