KING'S SOFTBALL PREPS FOR MAC TOURNEY, SWEEPS LVC
ANNVILLE -- The King's College softball team prepped
for the MAC Freedom Conference playoffs as the Lady Monarchs posted a
doubleheader sweep of Lebanon Valley College Tuesday in Annville.
King's won the first game 4-2 before capturing the
nightcap 6-2 to concluded the regular-season with a 33-7 mark.
In the opener, Christen Piccola was 2-for-3 while
Kelley Vaxmonsky and Linda Manarchuck were both 2-for-4. Mari Valonis had
a two-run double while Maria Zangardi added a triple. Sarah Genewski
(15-4) picked up the pitching victory, allowing both runs while striking
out two batters in six and one-thirds innings. Nikki Kotula earned the
save, pitching the final two-thirds.
In the second game, Kristin Brady was 3-for-4 with
two doubles while Zangardi went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, her
eighth of the year. Vaxmonsky was also 2-for-4 while Cassy Shiffer added a
two-run triple. Kotula picked up the win to improve to 11-1 on the year,
allowing four hits while striking out five batters.
King's will next host the Freedom Conference
playoffs Friday and Saturday at Betzler Fields in Wilkes-Barre Twp.
