KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS DESALES, IMPROVED TO 26-4
CENTER VALLEY -- The King's College softball
remained undefeated in Freedom Conference action as the Lady Monarchs
posted a doubleheader sweep of DeSales University Saturday in Center
Valley.
King's won the first game 8-0 before capturing the
second contest 11-1. Both games were halted after five innings due to the
eight-run mercy rule. The Lady Monarchs are now 10-0 in Freedom Conference
play.
In the opener, Stacey Preambo was 3-for-3 with a
pair of doubles while Mari Valonis went 2-for-3 with a home run, double,
and two RBI. Kristin Brady was 2-for-3 with a triple, double, and two RBI
while Maria Zangardi added a solo home run. King's pitcher Sarah Genewski
(13-2) picked up the shutout win, allowing five hits while striking out
seven.
In the nightcap, Linda Manarchuck went 4-for-4 while
Preambo was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Kelly Vaxmonsky was 2-for-3
with a double while Valonis was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI.
Zangardi was 1-for-3 with two RBI while Nikki Kotula was 2-for-2 with an
RBI. Kotula (8-0) also picked up the pitching verdict with a one-hitter
while striking out four batters.
King's will next face Scranton Monday at 3:00 p.m.
at Tripp Park.
