KING'S SOFTBALL IMPROVES TO 14-2 WITH 2-1 WIN AT
SUSQUEHANNA
SELINSGROVE -- The King's College softball team
improved to 14-2 on the year as the Lady Monarchs posted a 2-1 victory
over Susquehanna University Saturday in Selinsgrove. The teams were
originally scheduled to play a doubleheader but start of play was delayed
two hours to prepare the playing field after heavy overnight rains.
King's trailed 1-0 in the sixth inning when Kristin
Brady launched her fifth home run of the year to tie the score. King's
would score the winning run in the seventh inning when Linda Manarchuck
singled and stole second base. She would later scored on an infield
grounder off the bat of Maria Zangardi.
Sarah Genewski picked up the win for King's,
improving to 7-1 by scattering seven hits while striking out five batters.
King's will return to action Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
when the Lady Monarchs face national power Cortland State University. The
Red Dragons won the 2003 Northeast Regional championship and were one of
just eight teams to advance to the NCAA Division III College World Series.
