KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS KEYSTONE
WILKES-BARRE --
The King's College softball team improved to 13-2 on the year with a
doubleheader sweep over Keystone College Thursday in LaPlume.
King's won the
first game 11-1 before taking the nightcap 12-4 in five innings.
In the opener, freshman Nikki Kotula tossed a one-hitter while striking
out 11 batters. Maria Zangardi went 4-for-5 with two doubles and scored
three runs while Kelley Vaxmonsky went 3-for4 and scored two runs.
Ashley Sullivan was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
In the second game, King's broke open a 4-4 tie with six runs in the third
inning. Christen Piccola was 4-for-4 with three runs while Zangardi went
2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Kristin Brady was also 2-for-4
with two RBI while Stacey Preambo drilled a three-run home run, her sixth
of the season.
Sarah Genewski picked up the win in relief of starter Nicole Conger.
Genewski entered the game in the third inning and pitched three innings of
hitless softball to improve to 6-1 on the year.
