KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS WASHINGTON, IMPROVES TO 7-0
FT. PIERCE, FLA. -- The King's College softball team
posted a doubleheader sweep over Washington College (Md.) during their
spring trip to Ft. Pierce, Fla.
King's won by scores of 12-4 and 6-3 while improving
to 7-0 with the sweep.
In the first game, Sarah Genewski picked up the win,
allowing one earned run and striking out six batters. Stacey Preambo was
3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Maria Zangardi went 2-for-4 with two
RBI while Kristin Brady was 2-for-3 with three RBI. Cassy Shiffer and
Genewski were both 2-for-4 with an RBI while Kelly Vaxmonsky drove in
three runs for the Lady Monarchs.
In game-two, Zangardi led the way with a 4-for-4
effort with a triple and two RBI. Preambo was 2-for-4 with two RBI while
Nikki Kotula went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kotula also picked up the pitching
victory, allowing one earned runs in six innings while striking out four
batters. Megan Adams earned the save, pitching one inning of hitless
softball and registering two strikeouts.
The Lady Monarchs will next compete in the Salisbury
University Invitational Tournament Friday and Saturday in Salisbury, Md.
