KING'S SOFTBALL SWEEPS NORTHWESTERN COLLEGE
FT. PIERCE, FLA -- The King's College softball team
improved to 3-0 as the Lady Monarchs posted a pair of victories over NAIA
Division II Northwestern College of Minnesota in Fort Pierce, Fla.
The Lady Monarchs won by scores of 8-0 and 17-11.
In the opener, Sarah Genewski struck out five
batters and tossed a complete-game one-hitter. Linda Manarchuck went
2-for-4 with two RBI, while Christen Piccola was 1-for-3 with a pair of
RBI. Kelly Vaxmonsky was 2-for-3 while Stacey Preambo went 1-for-2.
In the nightcap, Mara Zangardi was 3-for-4 with
three RBI and a home run. Mari Valonis was 2-for-4 with a solo home run.
Cassy Shiffer was 3-for-5 with a home run and double, while Kristin Brady
also belted a home run. Manarchuck was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Nikki
Kotula picked up the win in relief, allowing two hits in two innings.
Genewski picked up the save.
