KING'S SOFTBALL OPENS WITH WIN THANKS TO LONG BALL

FORT PIERCE, FLA -- The King's College softball team opened the 2004 season in impressive fashion as the Lady Monarchs posted a 17-3 victory over Philadelphia University of the Sciences in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

King's rocked PUS pitching for five home runs en route to the victory. Kristin Brady led the way by going 4-for-4 with a triple, home run, and 3 RBI. Maria Zangardi followed with a 2-for-4 showing with two solo home runs.

Stacey Preambo was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI while Linda Manarchuck was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Christen Piccola was 2-for-4 with two RBI; Sarah Genewski and Cassy Shiffer were also 2-for-4.

Genewski picked up the pitching verdict with a complete game two-hitter while posting four strikeouts.

King's will resume play Saturday with games against Philadelphia Sciences and Division II Northwest University of Minnesota.
