KING'S SOFTBALL TEAM OPENS WITH SWEEP OF DAVIS &
ELKINS
FT. PIERCE, FLA -- The King's College softball team
opened its season with a doubleheader sweep of Division II Davis and
Elkins College Wednesday in Fort Pierce, Fl.
The Lady Monarchs won the first game with a 11-3
decision followed by a 10-0 triumph in the nightcap. Both games were
halted after five innings.
In the opener, Stacey Preambo went 3-for-4 with two
doubles and two RBI. Jess Harvey added a bases-loaded home run in the
fifth inning. Christen Piccola had a double and RBI while Suzanne Smith
added an RBI single. Smith also picked up the pitching win, allowing six
hits and one earned run while striking out two batters.
In the second game, Preambo went 2-for-3 with a
triple. Cassy Shiffer and Kim Roman both tripled for King's. Maria
Zangardi also singled for the Lady Monarchs. Megan Adams picked up the
pitching victory, tossing just 50 pitches in the game and allowing three
hits to pick up the shutout.
