KING'S SOFTBALL POSTS TWINBILL ROUTE OF BAPTIST BIBLE
WILKES-BARRE -- Junior shortstop Jess Harvey went 6-for-7 with two
home runs and eight RBI to power the King's College softball team to a
doubleheader sweep of Baptist Bible College Tuesday at Betzler Field.
King's won the first game 11-2 in five innings before capturing the
nightcap 20-0, also in five innings. With the sweep, the Lady Monarchs
improved to 24-5-1 on the year.
In opener, Harvey went 3-for-3 with four RBI, including a two-run home run
in the second inning over the right field fence, before drilling a solo
shot over the centerfield fence in the fourth frame. Maria
Zangardi was also 2-for-3 with two RBI while Linda Manarchuk scored a pair
of runs. The Lady Monarchs also stole 10-of-11 bases in the game.
Karen Ball picked up the pitching win for King's.
In the nightcap, King's scored five runs in the second inning before
exploding for eight in the third inning to break the game open Harvey
went 3-for-4 with four RBI while Lisa Rizzo was 3-for-5 and scored three
runs to pace King's. Michele Dlugosz was 2-for-2, scored two runs,
and stole four bases. Stacey Preambo went 2-for-3 with two RBI while
Linda Manarchuck was 2-for-3 and scored three runs. Freshman Sarah
Genewski picked earned the pitching victory for King's.
The Lady Monarchs will return to action Thursday with a crucial MAC
Freedom Conference doubleheader against rival University of Scranton in a
possible MAC playoff preview. The games will begin at 3:00p.m. at Tripp
Park in West Scranton.
