KING'S SOFTBALL DROPS TWO TO DREW, 6-5 AND 11-10
MADISON, NJ -- The King's College softball
team dropped its first MAC Freedom Conference
games of the year when the defending champion Lady Monarchs were upset
by host Drew University Tuesday in Madison, NJ.
Drew won the first game 6-5, then captured the
second game 11-10 to secure the
sweep.
In the opener, King's trailed 6-1 heading into their
final at-bats and scored four
runs to fall just short. Michele Dlugosz was 2-for-4, while Stacey Preambo,
Kim Ball, and Linda Manarchuck were all 2-for-3.
In the nightcap, King's held a 10-7 lead going into
the bottom-of-the-seventh
inning when the Rangers rallied. Drew scored
four runs in their final at-bats,
including a two-run double by Tara Duffy to post the comeback victory.
The Lady Monarchs were led by Dlugosz who was
3-for-4 with a triple and three
runs scored. Lisa Rizzo was 3-for-4 with a
double and three RBI. Jess Harvey was
2-for-3 while Maria Zangardi went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI.
King's falls to 20-5-1 and will next host FDU-Madison
Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in a
crucial MAC Freedom doubleheader at Betzler Fields.
