KING'S SOFTBALL ELIMINATED BY DEL-VAL FROM FREEDOM
TOURNEY
EDWARDSVILLE -- Brittany
Stockert went three-for-three with two solo home runs as Delaware Valley
battled back from a two-run deficit to beat King’s College 6-4 in the

game in two days against King’s that Delaware Valley battled back from
behind.
With the win,
Delaware Valley advances to face DeSales University in the championship

not played in the tournament championship game.

solo home run over the left field fence as the Aggies took a 1-0 lead.

time Brittany Stockert hit a solo home run over the left field fence
extending the lead to 2-0.
In the top of the
third inning, after back to back singles by Kelsey Shreaves and Annie
Drimones, Abby Knoblauch singled down the first base line scoring
Shreaves to cut the lead to 2-1. Leann Harvey grounded out to the
shortstop picking up an RBI as Drimones scored ting the game at 2-2.
Meghan Galvin then would give King’s the lead with a two run home run to
straight away center field making the score 4-2.
In the bottom of the
fourth inning, after a Kelly Andrews single to center field, Nicole
Dorney tied the game at 4-4 with a two run home run over the left field
fence. Stockert would then give Delaware Valley the lead at 5-4 with her
second solo home run of the game.
In the bottom of the
fifth, Delaware Valley would add some insurance to their lead. After two
two-out walks, Stockert continued with her hot bat singling to center
scoring one run extending the Aggies lead to 6-4.
King’s attempted a
two-out rally in the top of the seventh inning when Galvin singled to
left field. Lindsey Hoerner then hit into a fielder’s choice as the
shortstop fielded the ball and tagged second to end the game.
King was led by Galvin who was 2-for-4 with a two-run home run. Shreaves
was also 2-for-3 with one run scored.
