HARVEY NAMED MAC FREEDOM SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

WILKES-BARRE -- King's College softball standout Leanne Harvey has been named the MAC Freedom Conference "Player of the Week", the Middle Atlantic Conferences Office announced Tuesday.

Harvey helped lead King’s to a 1-1 week with a doubleheader split against York College in its only competition last week. In the opener, a 7-6 loss in eight innings, she helped King’s overcome a 4-1 deficit with a three-run home run in the sixth inning that would send the game to extra innings. She also added a single base hit earlier in the game. In the second game, she went 1-for-3 and scored one run in a 10-2 victory in five innings.

For the week, she batted .428 (3-7) with two runs scored, one home run, and four RBI. On the year, Harvey is batting .440 (11-25) with two doubles, one home run, and five RBI.

Harvey and her King's teammates will make their 2008 home debut on Thursday when the Lady Monarchs host Baptist Bible at 3:00 p.m. at Betzler Fields. The game was originally slated for a 2:30 p.m. start but was changed on Tuesday.
