KING'S SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH YORK
YORK -- The King's softball team played its first games in nearly two weeks and the Lady Monarchs salvaged a split with host York College Thursday in York.
York (4-4) won the first game 7-6 in eight innings while King's (7-3) took the nightcap 10-2 in five innings.
In the second game, King's registered 13 base hits, led by Annie Drimones who was 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Meaghan Galvin was 2-for-4 with one run and four RBI, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning.
Lindsey Hoerner was 2-for-3 and scored two runs and picked up the pitching victory, scattering seven hits and striking out three batters. Lauren DeCreny was 2-for-3 with one runs scored. Abbey Knoblauch, Becky Loring, and Leanne Harvey each added one hits and one run.
In the opener the teams entered extra innings tied at 4-4 and King's would score a pair of runs in the top half of the eighth inning on an error and an RBI single by Harvey.
York would answer with three runs, aided in part by a King's error to post the victory. Harvey was 2-for-4 with four RBI, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning. Kelsey Shreaves added two hits with an RBI while Sue Rocci contributed with an RBI double.
Shreaves was the losing pitcher, allowing seven runs, four earned, on 11 hits.
