KING'S SOFTBALL CLINIC SLATED FOR FEBRUARY 17

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College Monarch Softball Clinic will be held Sunday, February 17 in Scandlon Gymnasium, King's head softball coach Lisa Gigliello announced.

Gigliello and her staff will offer two separate clinics during the day and both will be open to players age 9-through-18 years old.

Gigliello has guided King's to seven Freedom Conference championships over the last eight years and eight consecutive NCAA Division III national tournament berths. She will be joined by her coaching staff along with current Lady Monarch players and former all-American and regional all-American players.

A pitching clinic will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. while a hitting and fielding clinic will run from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Cost of each clinic is set at $40.00. For those wishing to attend both clinics, the cost will be $70.00.

At the pitching clinic, players will learn basic fundamentals, specialty pitches, how to generate more pitch speed, and game management as well as throwing faster and more accurately. Pitchers must bring a catcher with them for the pitching clinic. The catcher will not be charged for the pitching clinic.

At the hitting & fielding clinic, players will learn how to hit consistently, select pitches, and have a quick, compact swing. Defensively, players will learn proper footwork, positioning, preparation and mechanics - catching, infield and outfield.

Participants must bring a glove and sneakers and may also bring a bat.
