Position Head Men’s and Women’s
Cross Country and Track and Field Coach
Classification Full-time--Exempt: 12 month basis

Athletics and Recreation
Job
Function: The
Head Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Coach is responsible
for the management and administration of all activities related to the
college’s varsity cross country and track and field programs, and exercises direct
supervision of recruiting, training, and coaching student-athletes who
participate in these sports programs.
The Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach is fully responsible
for compliance with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and
regulations as well as (MAC) conference rules and college polices governing
intercollegiate athletics.
Essential
Elements:
1) Demonstrate
a commitment to the mission and values of King’s College
2) Recruit
qualified student athletes for both respective teams
3) Organize
and manage all team practices and function as head coach in all contests for
both sports
4) Recommend
the hiring and supervision of (budget) approved assistant coaches
5) Develop
and adhere to the programs’ annual operating budgets and purchase of team needs
in accordance with operating and/or capital expenditure budget parameters
6) Coordinate
with Administrative Assistant in Athletics all team travel including transportation
and meals
7) Represent
the college at all relevant MAC and NCAA meetings and comply with all
conference and NCAA rules and regulations
8) Demonstrate
a willingness to participate in interdepartmental/divisional committees at the
college
9) Game
management of home athletic contests outside of Cross Country and Track and
Field
Non-Essential
Elements:
1) Additional
administrative responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of
Intercollegiate Athletics
Required
Skills, Experience and Training:
1) Bachelor’s
Degree Required
2) Minimum
of three (3) years of recruiting and coaching preferred
3) Sound
administrative and well-developed management skills including the ability to
motivate
4) Good
verbal and written communication skills including basic computer literacy
5) Strong
interpersonal abilities including cooperative willingness to coexist with
diverse personalities
6) Position
necessitates evening/ weekend work as well as travel
7) Candidates
must present an Abstract of Driving Record and continuously maintain a record
clear of any traffic and moving violations.
8) Official
