POSITION:                              Graphic designer/writer

 

 

DEPARTMENT:                      Office of College Marketing and Communications

POSITION REPORTS TO:       Associate VP, College Marketing and Communications

                                                Creative Director

 

JOB FUNCTION: The graphic designer will have creative design and production responsibilities for a variety of projects in the Office of College Marketing and Communications and will contribute to office operations by meeting the communications, publications and marketing needs of college departments and programs for which the office is responsible. In addition to the design and production duties, this position also will be responsible for general administrative and management tasks for assigned projects or as needed as determined by the AVP or creative director.

 

 

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

 

1.       Coordinates meetings with representatives from various internal departments requesting design services to determine theme, schedule, and content for publication(s).

2.       Assists in the preparation of bid requests, including specification of job requirements, for submission to vendors.

3.       Assists with the development of original ideas or concepts into presentations (drafts or proofs) for approval by the requesting department or office.

4.       Assists in design of advertisements, banners, and display units for the recruitment of students and/or campus events.

5.       Creates copy for college publications as assigned.

6.       Serves as copy editor for various college publications.

7.       Assists in the development of college photo/video shoot schedules; provides coordination and logistical support for scheduled shoots and similar productions.

8.       Communicates and monitors the use of King’s College graphics standards and supports brand management actions as needed.

9.       Assists in logging, scheduling and managing creative workflow through the office, including record keeping.

10.   Monitors all deadlines set by the creative director.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

 

1.       Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

 

Bachelor’s degree in communications, graphic design, English, or related field. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; experience in writing; proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products; experience in the use Adobe Creative Suite/Cloud products; experience developing content for social media. Web design experience preferred. Ability to learn quickly, handle multiple projects, and meets tight deadlines. Portfolio with native digital files preferred.
