Director
of Nursing Program
King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA, seeks an Associate
Professor of Nursing to serve as program director for an innovative, new
nursing program. Appointment at the rank
of Professor may be possible depending on the experience of the candidate. The appointment starts no later than August
2017, but may start earlier if the successful candidate is available to begin
the appointment. Salary and benefits
package will be competitive.
King’s College is seeking to establish a program for
those holding the R.N. degree to earn a B.S. in Nursing. This R.N. to Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will primarily support an agreement that
King’s has reached with Luzerne County Community College. Under this agreement, the colleges are joining
to offer a 1+2+1 R.N. and Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. This partnership is designed for students to enroll
in courses at King’s in the first year, complete the R.N. degree at LCCC in the
second and third years, and complete coursework for the Bachelor of Science in
Nursing at King’s during the fourth year.
This exciting new program provides students with a seamless pathway to an
affordable, traditional, four-year experience in the environment of a small
college with a strong liberal arts foundation that leads to a Bachelor of
Science in Nursing degree. As the first program of its kind in the area,
the director will have the opportunity to play a leadership role in an innovative
educational program.
The founding director will develop the curriculum
for the R.N. to Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program, and establish and
maintain accreditation at the national and state levels. It is anticipated that the program will be
fully implemented in Fall 2018, and so the initial
year of the appointment is expected to be devoted primarily to this
administrative work. Upon successful
initiation of the program, it is expected that the director will teach six
credits per semester while performing duties associated with the administration
of the program.
Successful candidates will possess the R.N. with
earned doctorate in an appropriate field of study, a minimum of 5 years of
clinical experience, and a minimum of 3 years of experience in nursing
education/administration. Successful
candidates will also have experience with accreditation of nursing programs, and
provide evidence of the potential for teaching excellence, administrative
ability, including interpersonal, leadership and management skills, and the
capacity to work positively with internal college communities (both King’s
College and Luzerne County Community College) as well as with external medical
and health systems. Successful
candidate will support the Holy Cross Mission and Catholic identity of the
College.
To
apply, send one *.pdf file containing a letter of application, CV, statement of
teaching philosophy, undergraduate and graduate transcripts, and three letters
of recommendation to hrjobs@kings.edu.
To receive full consideration, complete applications must be received by
December 1, 2016. Review of applications
will begin at that time and continue until the position is filled.
