King’s
College, as recipients of the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's
Internship Grant, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant to the Director of
Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation. This grant is intended to promote ethnic minorities and women
in intercollegiate athletics. This internship runs for
two years commencing August 1, 2016 and ending May 31, 2018. Opportunities for professional development and mentoring are
included as a part of the internship package.
The
internship includes a stipend of $20, 100 plus $3,000 professional development
funding.
Primary Job Functions:
Compliance
·
Assist Director
of Athletics with certifying all current and potential student athletes
·
Coordinate communication
with all head coaches on rosters and compliance paperwork
·
Work with Athletic
Director to administer all NCAA Compliance paperwork at annual student athlete
meetings
·
Design and
implement educational workshops for new coaches to further understanding of
NCAA rules and regulations.
Assistant Coaching
·
Individual
will assist Head coach in practice planning, game day operations and
recruitment of qualified student athletes.
The coaching assignment based on the strengths, abilities and experience
of the individual.
Marketing and Fundraising
·
Assist the
Coordinator of the Monarch Athletic Fund with development and coordination of
fundraising events.
·
Work with
the Alumni Office and Advancement in outreach to Alumni who participated in
Athletics.
Event Management
·
Assist
Athletic Director with planning and administration of all championship
tournaments.
·
Occasional
game day management of regular season games.
Requirements
·
Bachelor’s
Degree from an accredited college or university
·
Attendance at an orientation at the NCAA National Office July
28-29, 2016.
·
The
hired intern must identify as an ethnic minority and/or woman. For the
purposes of the grant, racial ethnic minorities are described pursuant to the
Federal guidelines.
