POSITION:                           Assistant Head Football Coach

 

CLASSIFICATION: Administrative

 

DEPARTMENT:                   Athletics

REPORTS TO:                     Head Football Coach

 

JOB FUNCTION:

 

Plans, organizes, directs and controls the activities of an assistant football coach, which include:  Defensive Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator, and Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1.         Defensive Coordinator:  Responsible for the "on-field" implementation of defensive schemes and strategies.

2.         Responsible for defensive staff, season, daily, and game day organization and preparation.

3.         Monitors and appraises the performance of defensive staff and personnel.

4.         Organizes and implements all facets of program's strength and conditioning protocol.

5.         Recruiting Coordinator:  Responsible for all organization, philosophy and logistical needs as they relate to the recruiting yearly calendar.

6.         Responsible for all "on-road" and "on-campus" recruiting protocol.

7.         Responsible for teaching recruiting philosophy and protocol to all new interns on a yearly basis.

8.         Personally responsible for the following areas recruiting:  Southeastern, PA, Coal Region, PA,  and Southern, NJ.

9.         Responsible for Head Coach Responsibilities in absence of Jeffery Knarr, Head Football Coach.

 

NON ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

1.         On-campus committee task force member.

2.         Work Study Coordinator for football managers, weight room supervision, and football office; secretarial assistants.

3.         Supervisor and Coordinator of weight room ("Scandlon Wellness Center").

4.         Stationary and office supply liaison.

5.         Advisor to positional players in academic and social realms.

6.         Guest speaker at high school sports/football banquets, clinics, and panel discussions.

7.         High School, College, and Youth Football clinician as it applies to philosophy, technique, schemes, and conditioning.

8.         Summer youth/high school football camp college representative.

9.         Community "volunteer" for various organizations as it applies to King's College.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.         B.S.  (Physical Education)

2.         M.Ed.  (Athletic Administration)

3.         Minimum of three (3) years of "on-field" coaching and recruiting experience.

4.         Sound Administrative skills, well developed management skills, with the ability to motivate.

5.         Strong football knowledge in areas of philosophy, technique, and scheme.

6.         Strong marketing knowledge in area of admissions recruiting.

7.         Strong inter-personal abilities, ability to co-exist with diverse personalities.

8.         Good communication skills, both written and oral.

9.         Ability to handle many tasks without compromising performance (organization, self-motivation).

10.       Need to be physically fit to be able to;  set an example, demonstrate techniques,

            Keep up with a fast pace practice, and maneuver to avoid collisions.

11.       Should be National Strength and Conditioning Association certified (NSCA)
