POSITION:                Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving

 

CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt

 

DEPARTMENT:        Alumni Relations and Annual Giving

 

REPORTS TO:           Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving

 

JOB FUNCTION:      Important, recently modified component of a fast-paced, dynamic, exciting, and evolving advancement operation.  Responsible for creating, managing, and producing timely, effective, and impactful alumni and annual giving-related communications efforts.  Also responsible for managing, developing, improving, and executing the Annual Fund telephone solicitation program.  Supports the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving and Institutional Advancement (“IA”)-related functions.

 

 

ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

1.      Responsible for delivering excellent “customer service” to alumni and friends of the College.

2.      Manages, develops, improves, and executes Annual Fund telephone solicitation program, including providing training, scheduling sessions, creating and managing the schedule, managing volunteers and workers, and meeting telephone solicitation goals.

3.      Organizes materials, writes copy, designs, and disseminates monthly digital alumni newsletter.

4.      Responsible for preparing materials for Alumni portions of PRIDE magazine, including event write-ups, articles, news and notes.  Coordinates with Public Relations Department to create exciting and informative publication.

5.      Manages technological needs; designs, implements and coordinates alumni web pages and alumni online community; oversees SurveyMonkey account; manages iModules (Online Alumni Community); maintains, updates, and improves Alumni Pages and Institutional Advancement pages on main King’s website.

6.      Manages an active and engaging social media networking effort in coordination with Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Office Coordinator, including but not limited to:

                            iv.            Pinterest

                              v.            Flickr

 

7.      Manages Advent and Lenten reflection e-mail program in coordination with Alumni Chaplain.

8.      Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards good relationships with fundraising prospects by regular mailings, phone calls, visits, and event participation.  Maintains a portfolio of fundraising prospects and meets relevant goals.

9.      Assists with planning and execution of IA-related events.

10.  Leads and presents as needed for IA-related events.

 

 

NON-ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS:

1.      Assists with planning and execution of IA events, including but not limited to President’s Dinner, Silver Century Club Christmas Party, Farber Golf Tournament, volunteer meetings, and other events, as needed.

2.      Participate in IA and College events as needed/requested.

3.      Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

1.      Bachelor’s Degree, preferably from King’s College.

2.      Exceptional customer service mindset.

3.      Experience working or volunteering in higher education, specifically alumni relations and/or annual giving, including telephone solicitation efforts, preferable.

4.      Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.

5.      Technologically astute and proficient, including ability to produce and manage web programs and content, and disseminate e-mail communication.  Experience with software programs (design based), such as Adobe CS5, preferable.

6.      Knowledgeable about and proficient in utilizing social media platforms, specifically how to effectively communicate with and engage targeted audiences.

7.      Extremely well-organized, with exacting attention to detail, and ability to oversee many projects at one time.  Flexible and adaptable to fast-paced and evolving environment.

8.      Strong management and administrative skills, including meeting deadlines, executing within a budget, and managing workers and volunteers. 

9.      Results-oriented.

10.  Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills.

11.  Team player.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Typical office working conditions with some night and weekend work required.  Some travel required.
