BENEFITS:

In 2008, the Heroes Earnings Assistance and Relief Tax Act of 2008 (Heart Act), providing certain tax and retirement plan benefits to assist military personnel and their beneficiaries, was signed into law.  Subsequently, in January of this year the IRS issued a Notice clarifying certain aspects of the Act, and requiring that retirement plan documents be amended to reflect the Act�s provisions. The college is required by the Department of Labor that a Summary of Material Modifications (SMM) be provided to plan participants and beneficiaries whenever there is a substantial modification to the 403(b) plan that is subject to ERISA regulations.
