Definitions
Academic Year – The period shortly before
the opening of the fall semester through commencement exercises following the
spring semester.
Exempt employees –
Fiscal year – The period beginning July 1st of each year through June 30th of
the following year.
Full-time employment – Full-time employment for
non-faculty employees occurs when the College hires and employee in a full-time
capacity and the employee works a minimum of 35 hours
per week. Employees will be informed of their full-time eligibility when
accepting the position.
Non-exempt employees – All support staff employees
are paid on an hourly basis and are entitled to receive an additional half-time
premium for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a workweek under the Federal
Wage and Hour Law. This classification of employee is eligible to earn overtime
wages.
Part-time employment - Part-time employment for
non-faculty employees occurs when the College hires an employee in a part-time
position and the employee works less than 35 hours per week. Employees will be
informed of their part-time employment status when accepting the position.
Senior Administration – Senior Administration would include any individual
who is actively employed by the College in one of the following positions:

Assistant to
the President
·
Vice President
for Academic Affairs

Associate Vice
President for Academic Affairs and Dean of
·
Associate Vice
President for Enrollment and Academic Services
·
Vice President
of Business Affairs and Treasurer
·
Vice President
for Institutional Advancement

Vice President
for Student Affairs
·
Associate
Vice-President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
·
College
Chaplain
Week – A period of seven
consecutive days beginning on Sunday and commencing on Saturday.
Workweek – This is a seven
consecutive day period. For all non-exempt employees this period begins each
Sunday and ends on Saturday. For exempt employees this period begins each
Thursday and ends on Wednesday.
