A Brief Biography to Contextualize My Experiences

I’m twenty-two years old. I’ve debated for four years in high school and three years here at UTD.

I am a graduate student, working toward my PhD in Economics. I’m currently a research assistant in

the Bruton Center, where I use Geographical Information Systems (GIS) programming and statistical

packages for the purpose of policy data analysis. My favorite studies include feminist economics,

information economics, and forecasting. I met my husband here – we were debate partners my

freshman year. He is clearly the best thing I’ve ever gotten out of debate (which is a compliment

because I love debate).

Paradigm

I think topicality is a voting issue. I would like you to weigh the debate round or explain to me why

a debate round should be conceived of differently if you choose not to weigh issues. I have not cut

many cards on this topic, so please explain your stories to me if they’re complex. I reward

transparency (e.g. clear explanation, honesty about arguments, and patience when retelling your

story in cross-ex) with speaker points.
