Local Halloween Attractions

Wilkes-Barre and the surrounding areas have lots of spooky attractions to offer the public this Halloween season.  Horror Hall is a popular haunted house in West Nanticoke.  Horror Hall is Northeastern Pennsylvania’s largest indoor haunted house and is said to be the best and scariest of all the haunted houses.  It’s  open every Friday and Saturday, 6 to 11 pm, and Sunday, 6 to 10 pm, until November 2.

The Gravestone Manor Theatrical Haunted House is a local attraction for Halloween lovers that want more than the monsters and gore of typical haunted houses.  It is an indoor walking tour and proceeds benefit the United Way.  It is open every weekend until October 28 from 7 to 11 pm.

Another haunted house in our area is the Brokenheart’s Asylum.  It is located on Route 118 in Dallas at the Luzerne County Fairgrounds.  Along with the haunted house, the Screamin’ Demons Haunted Attraction is also available.  It is open every weekend in October and on November 1.  It is open on Friday and Saturday from 7 pm to midnight and Sundays from 7 to 11 pm.

Also available in our area is an event that explores historical haunted attractions.  Murder, Mayhem and History: A Chilling Tour of Downtown Wilkes-Barre will take place on October 7 at 2 pm. This event will highlight real haunted houses, lost cemeteries and stories of suicides, murders and other bizarre tragedies that have occurred in our region.  It is hosted by the Wilkes-Barre Historical Society.

The Hotel of Horror in Saylorsburg tells a story of National Guard members being overthrown and tortured by the prisoners of an asylum in 1939. You are taken through four stories containing 27 rooms, guaranteed to give you shivers down your spine. They are open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October from 7 to 11 pm and are also open Saturday, November 1 from 7 to 10 pm.

Night Terrors is calling for “new thrills, chills, and screams” this Halloween in West Pittston. They offer special shows like “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Friday, October 24 at midnight along with a Murder Mystery Dinner Treat on Halloween and November 1 at 7 pm. They are regularly open every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 11 pm and Sundays from 6 to 10 pm in October.

If you want to go more of a distance to the #6 best haunted attraction in the nation, take a drive over to Shocktoberfest in Sinking Spring, which is near Philadelphia and Lancaster. It is toasted as “Pennsylvania’s Premier Haunted Scream Park.” Shocktoberfest is open Sundays and Thursdays from 7 to 9 pm and on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 10 pm.
