King's College Welcomes New Faculty

Robert De Lullo - Staff Writer

For the 2008 Fall semester, King’s College has hired an eclectic mixture of instructors with experience ranging from a few years teaching to nearly three decades at institutions. The new employees were chosen because all of them don’t just believe in teaching, they believe in the students.

In the math department, there are two additions. Dr. Todd Gutekunst is an assistant professor of mathematics earning his Ph.D. at the University of Delaware. A self-described “avid musician,” Dr. Gutkunst is an extremely affable instructor. Also, Dr. Seshendra Pallekonda obtained a B. Tech degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and previously had a Departmental NSF Fellowship at SUNY Binghamton.

Dr. Noreen O’Connor is an exquisite addition to the English Department. She had been a lecturer at Georgetown University. King’s has promoted two members into Education. Dr. Jill Yurko, previously an Adjunct Instructor in Professional Development, now is an Assistant Professor of Education.  Mr. Robert Richards has received the position of Assistant Technical Professor of Education. Prior to accepting a position at King’s, Dr. Ayesha Ray was an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Government at the U. of Texas at Austin. Dr. Ray is an Assistant Professor of Political Science.

Mr. Bryant Bynum, previously employed as the Executive VP/Chief Financial Officer of Keystone Automotive Operations, Inc., is now an Assistant Professor of Accounting. Earning his M.B.A. from Oklahoma State University, Mr. Bynum began teaching full-time at King’s in Spring 2008. Dr. Frank Oliver has accepted the job of Vice President for Institutional Advancement. He received an Ed.D. and an Ed.M. from Columbia University.

The Sciences welcome Dr. Johanna Choo, who is the latest Assistant Professor of Biology at King’s. She was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Smithsonian Institute. Earning a Ph.D. from UNC, Dr. Isaac LaRue was hired as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Steven Sweeney accepted the position of Assistant Professor Physics. He had previously been a Research Assistant and a Teaching Assistant at Lehigh University, the school where he earned his M.S. and Ph.D.

The administration and professional staff has expanded this semester. Promotions and new members of staff include Ms. Meghan Ball, Mr. William Behm, Ms. Donna Cerza, Ms. Jamie Guilford, Ms. Laura Haden, Mr. Jason Kelly, Ms. Rebecca Laughman, Mr. Kevin Maccarella, Mr. Steven Matusiewicz, Ms. Ave Moran, Mr. Peter Philips, Mr. Robert Rusinko, Bro.
