Sara Pokorny - Editor-in-Chief

I quit this gig when I was a freshman. Look at me now, Ma – I've been in charge for a full year!

I'm a writer, but I won't lie – this piece may be peppered with farewell clichés, and for that I apologize. It doesn't mean that every word you read doesn't come straight from my heart.

King's College prides itself on a sense of community. It's true – I don't think any other college could make me feel as accepted and integral as this one. Within this large community are many smaller ones. It's an honor to be able to say, and to carry with me all my life the fact that I have been a part of several: from a group of 10 th floor dwellers that stuck it out as friends over four years to a bunch of hyped-up Communications kids that could only understand why inverted pyramids are so important.

I wish the best of luck to my fellow seniors. You are all the rowdiest, most ambitious bunch of people I've ever known and I don't think anyone else will leave the impression on me that you have.

I'd like to say thank you to my staff. I would have absolutely lost my head if you weren't always there for me. We have all taken The Crown and elevated it to levels I didn't think were possible. I thank you all so much for helping me do that and I know that, come next year, you will take this paper even further. I expect you'll blast Wilson Phillips in my honor at least once during a layout.

Marcy, Marcy, Marcy. I've told you so many times how important you are to me – as an assistant, a fellow classmate and, especially, a friend. I'm not even going to wish you luck for next year because I know that you're going to go above and beyond everyone's expectations.

Dr. Brooks and Dr. Little – you have been indescribable influences on my time here at King's. You have pushed me as far as I can go, and then some. You've both prepared me for what lies ahead – I truly believe I'd be lost without your guidance.

Every member of the King's College community I have crossed paths with has molded me in some way. I will take a little piece of all of you with me for the rest of my life.

King's has provided me with many opportunities, such as rubbing elbows with editors at the New York Times, having a respected journalist from the Poynter Institute give The Crown personal attention, and interning with some of the best organizations around. All underclassmen should believe me when I say: grab onto things like that and don't let go! They're some of the best experiences you'll have.

Thanks for the Wednesdays that quickly turned into Thursday mornings. Thanks for the friendships that will last a lifetime.

My Crown staff – we only lay out the best. (That's what she said!)
