Editorial

Kaylee Ziolkowski - Assistant Managing Editor

I always knew I wanted to be a writer. But, unlike most incoming college students, I wasn't necessarily the most outgoing girl on campus. I didn't become involved with the Crown until fall of 2006 when I was able to take over the sports section.

It was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to me, not only for my portfolio and career in the long run, but it also gave me some of the best friends I will ever have.

It won't be the same, not being able to walk into the completely disastrous room, with random pairs of Sara's shoes on the floor. My Wednesdays will be incomplete when a Larry Melf joke isn't cracked, when several cans of energy drinks aren't thrown about the desk, and I don't constantly hear the complaints from students in the campus center computer lab that the Crown staff is laughing too much and playing their music too loud.

Well I'm glad that we played our music too loud, and laughed a little too often, because that is who the Crown staff is. We have become a sort of family. It's a place to relax from the outside world by placing extra stress on ourselves to reach deadline. The office is a place where Ben can ride his bike in circles, Ryann can walk in randomly after a hard days work (that's right, the Crown helped her get a full-time job), Kasey can complain about Lions not being domesticated, Larry can be waiting on a quote for sometimes two weeks straight, and listening to Matt's Mario Bros. ringtone go off several times a night is second nature. And I, well I just love to add my opinion and take it all in. Because its home in the office.

Most people wouldn't understand the unfathomable relationship of this unique staff, but it is something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I can't believe it's all over, and it happened so quickly. Acquaintances come and go in your life, but best friends never change. And I truly believe that the friends (well family to me) that I have made here will last a lifetime.

To all incoming Crown staffers-have fun. Don't stress, even though Kasey is your new fearless leader and she tends to get a little fanatical at times, calm her down. In the end she'll lead you in the right direction, I promise.

P.S. A quote starts a new paragraph
