The New York Giants are credited with one of the biggest upsets in professional football after beating the 18-0 New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII Sunday in Arizona by a score of 17-14. More than 97 million viewers tuned into the big game, making it the most watched game in Super Bowl history.
The biggest stand out in Sunday's game was Giants quarterback and Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning. Manning lead the Giants offense to score in the final moments of the game, while the Giants defense held the Patriots to only 14 points.
Favorites Tom Brady and the Patriots had the number one offense in the league this year. They went into the final game undefeated with a record of 18-0, trying for a perfect season, something that had not been done since the 1973 Miami Dolphins. The Patriots were favored to win Super Bowl XLII by at least 12 points.
Some people don't necessarily tune into the game, but rather the commercial breaks. This year a 30 second commercial spot cost $2.7 million. The best Super Bowl commercial, according to the USA Today's Super Bowl ad meter was Budweiser.
