KING'S VOLLEYBALL CLINCHES PLAYOFF BERTH WITH 3-0 WIN OVER
MANHATTANVILLE
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's volleyball team clinched
a berth in the Freedom Conference playoffs with a 3-0 victory over
visiting Manhattanville College Wednesday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
King's, which won by scores of 30-20, 30-26, 30-15, improved to
19-13 overall and 3-3 in Freedom Conference play. Manhattanville,
meanwhile, slipped to 2-18 overall and 0-5 in league games
Kaitlyn Malshefski led the way with 13 kills, six digs, and four
service aces while Samantha Page followed with 12 kills. Kat Clerici
added seven kills, 14 service points, and two blocks while Danielle
Belfanti registered 18 digs. Samantha Garrigues tallied 20 assists
while Kelly Greenway chipped in with 14 assists. Shannon Ellis also
checked in with 14 service points and four digs.
For Manhattanville, Christa Nessel had eight kills and nine digs to
pace the Valiants. Jackie Bryant added two kills, five digs and
three service aces. Courtney Soucy dished out seven assists with
five digs. Amanda Nonis, Anne Marie Vitale, Christina Galleti, and
Justine Chirico all contributed wit nine kills.
The Lady Monarchs will close out the regular season Saturday with a
tri-match in Scandlon Gymnasium. The Lady Monarchs will face William
Paterson at 11:00 a.m. before meeting SUNY-IT at 3:00 p.m. The
King's Alumni Match will follow at 5:00 p.m.
