KING'S VOLLEYBALL WINS FIRST TWO MATCHES AT TOURNEY
WILKES-BARRE - The King's College volleyball team won both its
matches during the first day of the King's Invitational Tournament
Friday in Scandlon Gymnasium.
In its first match, King's defeated Mt. St. Mary's College 3-0, by
scores of 30-12, 30-22, 30-11. In its second match, the Lady Monarchs
bested Misericordia3-0 by scores of 30-17, 30-27, 30-22.
In other day-one matches, Wilkes downed Misericordia 3-0 by scores of
30-22, 30-26, 30-28. Marywood then defeated Wilkes 3-1 by scores of
31-29, 30-26, 23-30, 31-29. The Pacers also downed Mt. St. Mary's 3-1.
Kat Clerici led the way with 17 kills and seven blocks while Kaitlin
Malshefski totaled 15 kills. Dani Belfanti had 35 digs and 18 service
points. Samantha Garrigues had 31 assists, 11 kills and 12 digs. Shannon
Ellis chipped in with 18 digs
The event will continue Saturday at 10:00 a.m. when Wilkes faces Mt. St.
Mary's. King's and Wilkes will then play at 12:00 noon before the Lady
Monarchs close out play against Marywood at 2:00 p.m.
