KING'S VOLLEYBALL DOWNS WILKES AS BELFANTI BREAK SINGLE-SEASON DIGS MARK

WILKES-BARRE -- Sophomore libero Danielle Belfanti (Reading/Holy Name) set a new single-season record for digs as the King's College women's volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over visiting Wilkes University Wednesday in Scandlon Gym.

King's, which won by scores of 30-15, 30-20, 30-19, improved to 17-12 overall and 2-2 in Freedom Conference play.  Wilkes, meanwhile, slipped to 8-13 overall and 1-3 in league play.

Belfanti registered 22 digs on the night tally a school-record 594 digs thus far this season.  She bettered the mark of 585 digs set by former King's all-American Jessica McVey in 2002. Belfanti also contributed with nine service points and an assist.

Also pacing King's was Kaitlyn Malshefski with 10 kills and eight digs while Kat Clerici added seven kills and five total blocks. Kelly Greenway distributed 25 assists while Katie Doss chipped in with five kills and six digs.

King's will be idle until Tuesday when the Lady Monarchs travel to face FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ.
