KING'S VOLLEYBALL WINS CONFERENCE OPENER OVER DVC, 3-0
WILKES-BARRE - The King's volleyball team opened up its 2006 Freedom
Conference schedule on a high note as the Lady Monarchs posted a 3-0
victory over visiting Delaware Valley College Tuesday in Scandlon
Gymnasium.
The Lady Monarchs won by scores of 30-21, 30-8, and 30-15.
With the win, King's improved to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Delaware Valley dropped its first match of the year in slipping to 3-1
and 0-1.
King's was paced by freshman hitter Kaitlyn Malshefski with 16 kills on
the night. Fellow rookie hitter Kat Clerici was also outstanding
with 12 kills and two solo blocks. Senior hitter Jessica Luedeman
added 12 digs and six kills while sophomore defensive specialist Erin
Dugan contributed 17 service points and 11 digs. Freshman setter
Danielle Belfanti enjoyed a solid all-around game with 35 assists, 14
service points, and six digs.
The Lady Monarchs will return to the court Saturday with a 2:00 p.m.
match against Centenary College. King's will then hold its annual
Alumni Game following at 4:00 p.m.
